Microsoft Office can be obtained FREE for personal use by San Jacinto College faculty, staff, and enrolled students.
Licensing Information and Restrictions
This benefit is provided through the Office 365 subscription plan under the College’s license agreement with Microsoft.
Faculty, staff, and enrolled students may download and install the latest full version of Office 365 ProPlus on up to five personal PCs or Macs. The Office Mobile apps may also be installed on supported Windows Mobile, iOS, and Android devices.
Subscriptions end upon graduation, separation, retirement or otherwise exiting the College. The software will go into a reduced functionality mode once you are no longer eligible.
The software does not require an internet connection for daily use, however your device must connect to the internet at least once every 30 days to verify the license. The software will go into a reduced functionality mode if it has not been able to successfully verify the license.
Install, Update, and Deactivate
You must have an active email account with San Jacinto College before you will be able to proceed. For more information on email accounts, visit Email at San Jacinto College.
Microsoft will automatically upgrade to new versions for Windows and mobile device installations. Mac installations will need to repeat the installation steps below after an upgrade is released to receive it.

Mac and PC Download and Installation

On the left, it will ask you to enter your education email address and then click the blue ”Get Started” button.

- Visit https://portal.microsoftonline.com
- Enter your San Jacinto College email address in the Office 365 prompt. You will be redirected to a San Jacinto College authentication page.
- Enter your user name and password.
- If you are experiencing problems logging in, visit Email at San Jacinto College for assistance.
- Once logged into Office 365, follow the links on-screen for download and proceed with the installation.
- When prompted during or after installation, provide your San Jacinto College email address and password.
- You may be prompted to select between a “Microsoft Account” and a “Work or School Account.” Select “Work or School Account.”
- Once the installation is complete, Microsoft Office is available for your use.
iOS, Android, and Windows Mobile Installation


- Open your device’s app store (App Store, Google Play, Windows Store) to search for Microsoft Office and select the products to install.
- For detailed and device-specific instructions, visit Microsoft’s Mobile Office page.
- Once installed, use your San Jacinto College email address and password when prompted in the application to enable the full feature-set.
